The Morris Ring
Dartington Morris Men are members of the Morris Ring, an association of over two hundred morris dance sides. Member sides have only male dancers but male and female musicians. The other two principle morris organisations are the Morris Federation and the Open Morris, both of which have male and female dancers. All three organisations are linked in a group called the Joint Morris Organisation. Founded in 1934, its mission is to encourage the performance of morris dancing, to maintain its traditions and to preserve its history. Each year they organise several Morris Ring Meetings for members, hosted by a member side at or near their home base. Dartington Morris Men have hosted two Morris Ring meetings, one in September 2008 and an earlier one in 1989. For more information take a look at the extensive Morris Ring website.
