Dartington Morris Men

If you would like to know a little about Dartington Morris Men, when and where we dance, how we dance and why we dance, then you're in the right place - our online calendar is kept right up to date. We also have a photo gallery and a fine collection of sheet music for traditional tunes; and you can listen to samples from our very own CD, which you can order online for quick delivery.

We are based in the small village of Dartington, near Totnes in South Devon, although our members come from a much wider area from the South Hams to Torbay, Exeter to Plymouth and Newton Abbot to the southern edge of Dartmoor. We dance all around this area on Friday evenings during the summer, occasional Fridays during the winter and at other special events throughout the year, such as village fetes and wedding receptions.

The side was formed in 1968 and is a member of the Morris Ring, the international organisation of Morris dancers. You can find out more about our history on the About Dartington Morris page.

We perform Cotswold Morris dances, and we have  North Skelton Longsword team and occasionally perform Isle of Man Scallop Dances.

Our wide repertoire of Cotswold dances is explained in the A-Z of Morris Dances, as is our reconstructed dances from the village of Filkins in Oxfordshire.

So, whether you’re a visitor to the area, a local resident, another Morris dancer or musician, or just wondering what it’s all about, please read on and then come out and see us – you never know, you might really enjoy it!
